Mentor Spotlight: Kara Scott

Originally from the Midwest, Kara now calls Seattle her home where she’s found a perfect blend of professional opportunity and local culture that allows her to pursue her interests ranging from music and film to pugs and crafty hobbies.

In her 20+ years working as a program manager, Kara spent most of her career in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment that is typical for the tech sector. She’s been described as “extremely competent”, a hard worker, “unflappable under pressure”, and “capable of navigating the shoals of internal development team and client personalities.” Even so, Kara never loses sight of her team and her team members “appreciate her concern for them.”

It’s likely this supportive side that also compels Kara to serve as a mentor with AWIT. She’s shown a level of commitment to her mentees that goes well beyond the requirements of any given program and she enters every new mentoring relationship without looking for a hard stop.
